  • Whole heart!

I recently discovered the Asian market who have a whole lot of interesting food I need to try!!! This mornings find was a whole veal heart , I usually get beef heart which is pre sliced that i just sauté up with some spices. Has anyone tried roasting a whole one?

Never tried roasting it. I just slice it up and saute it up like you do.

Stuffing it looks like it could be good: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/thread52565.html

I buy whole beef heart all the time at my market. You need to cut out the stringy tendons before use. If you cook it on too high heat it will toughen up like a rubber sole. I find that, once again, your crock pot turns out to be your best friend

Low setting for 6-8 hrs produces the best results.

I have two or three whole beef hearts in my freezer right now. I just cut them up (in roughly 1in cubes), so the same with the kidneys, then brown them in batches, and make a massive casserole/steak and kidney pie (with mashed potatoes as the topping/crust).
