  • 'Go To' Primal Snacks

I have been exercising a lot more lately and need something to tide me over in the afternoon, what does the primal community keep on hand to snack on? (store bought snacks or quick recipes are welcome!)

Cheese cubes (if you do dairy)
        Pork rinds
        Olives

Sometimes I'll throw all three together in a bowl and make a meal out of it, since it's pretty filling.

Pork rinds? Sounds delicious, can you elaborate?

I have cans of sardines stashed everywhere.

I also usually just throw a bunch of whatever food I've made recently in some tupperware-like container and take it with me during the day. Stick it in the fridge or a small cooler.

I just mean the store bought kind. Y'know, fried pig skin, all light and crunchy? Fell in love with them because I was missing chips and other crunchy snacks--they have the consistency of Cheetos or something, but they taste like pork. They're awesome.

I just make sure to buy the ones that only have salt added.

                    Grass fed beef jerky
Applegate Farms Meat Slices (all their beef is 100% grassfed!)
                    Hard Boiled Eggs
Cans of Fish (packed in olive oil or water)
Bits of chicken or turkey off a grocery store salad bar (my favorite, lol)

I love that your "go to" snack is a chicken leg. . . I do the same thing and people think I'm nuts.

I like oysters, macadamia nuts, and banana chips, just not all together. Another go to snack kept handy in my house is beef jerky, th green chile variety locally made. I used to keep some of grandms's homemade jerky (carne seca) around but since she passed on nobody has made any. Guess I have to learn and keep that tradition going.
