  • Oysters?

I REALLY want some oysters but don't know any way other than batter and deep frying them to fix them. Or eating raw which I don't want.

Anyone have any dishes or just some simple tasty ways to prepare them?

Simmer them in heavy cream with a little sherry: Oyster stew.

Grill in the half shell with a bit of butter & some chili sauce

i have carpet bagged them which is where you stuff steak or fish with oysters and cook it all. you can google recipes. i've done venison carpet bag and also squid tubes stuffed with brill and oysters. both very yummy. i do rarely get past the raw stage with them as we usually just get eat them out of the shell.

In the days gone by for northern England, oysters were a cheap filler for meat stews. The Lancashire Hotpot being a prime example.

Shame not to just wolf them down raw, but dropped into a slow-cooked meat stew ... perfect.

Anybody have a good brand of smoked oysters that doesn't come in cottonseed oil?

I can't find any in my town, so I buy the ones in cottonseed oil, drain well, and sometimes even rinse them out with hot water. But just draining the can well is probably good enough. If you drain them, you are probably only getting 1/4 of a tsp or less of the oil.

I tried these and really liked them:

Smoked Bacon Oysters | Mark's Daily Apple

Easy to fix and pretty quick.
