  • Green Smoothies (32 oz of raw green goodness)

A paleo lifestyle is not just about meat or absence of grains. It is about taking care of yourself and nourishing your body with pure unprocessed foods. A healthy paleo lifestyle includes copious amounts of juicy fruits and vegetables bursting with flavor.

One easy and filling way to get all your veggies in is through a blended green smoothie. This has become my lunch almost every day. Not in this variation alone - but whatever greens and veggies I have on hand and feel like that day. I love it! it gives you energy all afternoon, makes you full, and, as an added bonus is great for the skin and hair - not to mention the immunue system! BTW: It travels well in a mason jar with a screw on plastic lid. Make it in the am and just pack it in your cooler Recipe<3

Never again will I mix fruit and veggie in a smoothie. Tried it once and my stomach hurt for a week.

Granny smith apples, berries, and mangos are my favorite thing to use for the green smoothie.

I love a green smoothie too. I'm not much of an apple person, but I love spinach + berries + water/ice. It's such an easy way to get my greens. Alas, green + red doesn't look as pretty - looks a bit like mud. I love the idea of the lemon and think that greens + lemon will serve me well come summer.

Also, raspberries and almond milk, which technically belongs in a pink smoothie thread.

I think the mud color would go over better at my office than the green. Everyone thinks my green smoothie looks gross, but I sure do like the taste

              LOVE pink smoothies too ..yum!

I like EATING food too much to puree it into baby food all the time. Wouldn't actually CHEWING those same foods for lunch give you the same amount of energy and nutrition, and make you feel just as full?

Don't get me wrong, I love a good, rich, coconut milk based fruit & veggie smoothie once in a while. But as a substitute for a nice crisp apple and a salad topped with avocado, bacon, spiced pecans and feta cheese? Nope.

I love chewing food too - DEINITELY! lol. Right there with you. The thing about green smoothies, is in what ends up condensing down to 32 oz you get about 15 servings of greens. Makes a great lunch. Holds me till dinner well. Also makes a great snack or vitamins in a glass if you are fighting something off. You don't have to sub it for a meal. Great for on the go. It's like around 4-6 cups greens + 2 cups fruit.

I used to make smoothies all the time. I did try a few green, but found I needed a lemon, beetroot and carrot in mine. But my goodness they went down a treat and I looked a treat. I also used to make a litre or two in the morning and have it during the day - best times...................... maybe I need to pull my juicer back out of the cupboard ??????

These look delicious and like something I'll have to try! I'll try to find some more pictures of ingredient-filled blenders for inspiration because I'm still not sure what would go well in one of these.

Totally! I don't have my juicer anymore...I do all mine in the vitamix. Ingredients in plus water. I find I like the pulp in mine. Makes it thicker and keeps me full unlike juice alone. Either way - you're right - tastes great and an awesome thing to do for your body!

try searching for "Green Smoothie Girl" on youtube. There are a ton of video/recipes that come up for Green smoothies. Oh, "FullyRawKristina" has a good green smoothie recipe or two as well.

Bacon? I hadn't thought of it, but I probably would do it. It might be good with baby spinach, pears, and goat cheese. That alone makes a good breakfast, but in smoothie form? Hmmm... has potential.

really you eat all the pulp as well !!!!!
I could add it all back in once juiced, and I imagine it would be like a soup.
Gwamma is thinking that maybe frozen into little cups could be a nice wee treat ! hhhmmmmmmmmmm thinking .........
