  • Grass Fed Ground Beef - Need something new to do with it

So I love making my grass fed ground beef sweet potato hash. One of my favorite meals. However my wife is pregnant and all of sudden thinks it sounds terrible. So I told her I'd figure out something else to do with the ground beef that we have defrosting. Any ideas?

    1. Meat loaf. Simple to make, nice comfort food.
    2. Meatballs. So many variations you can do on the recipe, too.
    3. Chili. I usually use chuck in my chili, but the good old standard chili with GB is an easy meal.
    4. Burgers. Lettuce-wrapped, of course.
    5. Halupki. If you're not OK with rice, I'm sure you can make without.
    6. Stuffed peppers.
    7. Eggplant "lasagna" with meat sauce.
    8. Shepherd's pie. Only if you allow the occasional tater.
    9. Soup. Why not put meatballs into a simple vegetable soup?

        Dude.

Chili! I mean, really, what's better than chili in the winter?

        Burgers. Wait, bacon cheeseburgers.

OR for these cold weather days, cheeseburger soup. Just sub in tapioca starch or potato starch for the all purpose flour, or omit the flour altogether and use cream instead of milk to increase the thickness of the soup.

Tacos w/traditionally prepared nixtamalized corn tortillas. Whole Foods sells them 12 for $1.49. They are certified organic, verified non-GMO and traditionally nixtamalized (treated with "lime" as in calcium carbonate, not lime juice). They're phenomenal. Nixtamalized corn tortillas are Robb Wolf's favorite treat.

Make the most primal of all breads - MEATLOAF! And if you wanna kick it up a notch, wrap it in bacon.

Make a taco salad if tacos above aren't your thing.

Use your imagination. I can keep going.

          + 1 on the chili.

and you can meatza a try. it's easy to mix in whatever flavors she is craving with something like that.

            50/50 burgers
Swedish meatballs (or any meatball variant, Nom Nom has an awesome Asian-style one)
            Sloppy Joes
Spaghetti sauce (or red sauce and meatballs/ground beef-depending on how you define spaghetti sauce) w/ zoodles
            Scotch eggs
            Chili
            Tacos (or taco salad, etc)
Use as a topping on pizza (plenty of paleo/primal crust recipes to choose from)

Edit-oops, looks like most of these have already been suggested

How many Shepherd's do you know who "watch their herd at night"? That'd be lamb mince ... beef mince makes a Cottage Pie

Cauli mash on top is perfectly good.

Meatballs with veggies are a big win around here. especially spinach meatballs:
2 heads spinach, steamed, cut up finely and moisture pushed out.
                  Mix into:
                  1 lb grassfed beef
                  .5-1 bulb garlic sauteed.
                  1 egg

brown in skillet, finish in oven.

One of my favourites is deconstructed cabbage rolls - shred a head of cabbage, fry up the beef, season with garlic, salt and pepper, and dump some tomato sauce over the lot, simmer until you want to eat it...delicious, and none of the work (or rice).

                      My first thought was chili.

Get some casing and make some beef franks?

                        Meatza
                        Chili
                        Taco salad (sans tortilla bowel)
Make burgers and put them on an oopsie roll
