    I got some free grass-fed beef soup bones today and roasted a batch in prep for making bone broth. I cant believe how much fat came out of the marrow. I kept pouring it off the pan while turning the bones occasionally, and before putting the bones in the crock pot, I scooped out the rest of the marrow and stuck it back in the oven and released even more fat.

    I strained the liquid fat thru paper towel in a sieve and its hardening nicely in a mason jar as I type.

    Is it really that easy?

    I was just going to make broth, but this is an added bonus. I've got enough bones to make at least 3 more batches of broth.

    Omg you are letting the unique, delicious taste of marrow go to waste! Just eat the marrow straight, and save the other parts of beef for tallow!

              Mix the rendered marrow with softened butter. Add finely chopped rosemary and a little minced shallot and black pepper.

              Plop that bad boy on a nice rare steak.
