  • Once you have the broth...

Do you have a favorite soup you make with the tasty results?

Do you simply drink the broth?

I've done both, but am looking for new options in the meal soup category. Shared recipes welcome!

I just made my first pot of bone broth ever - I made my family save me all their lamb bones from dinner and threw them in a pot. I seriously could have drunk the stuff on it's own, it smelled so umami and delicious. I did, actually, that night, because I couldn't go to sleep, so I figured the hot broth would make me sleepy.
However, today I chipped the white fat off the top of the broth (it gelled really well) and used it to fry sliced onions for French onion soup and some garlic until it was soft, then added the broth with some water and herbs and simmered it. It's really good - I've had it with my breakfast and lunch. I think that's what I'll end up doing from now on, French onion is easily my favorite soup.

Oh my god French Onion soup! I am so glad I clicked on this topic. I didn't realize you could make it with bone broth! I usually just drink it as is, or if it's like jello, sometimes I eat it as beef jello.

I make carrot and coriander soup, spinach and coconut soup, courgette and tarragon soup, "leftover" soup, and I also use my stock when frying meats to add a little liquid to the pan and moistness to the meat, for reducing down and making a sauce, adding to vegetables to give a little bit of body to the taste. I also put some in mashed potatoes (when I do them for the children), in mashed cauliflower for me, and always add some to any savoury sauce I make.

I made some last week, my first. I had made stock many times, but this time ground up the bones also and called it broth (chicken bones)

I just drink it. Well usually I use a bowl and soup spoon, but sometimes a cup. It really is quite filling. It has become my new go-to. I froze it in 2 & 3 cup containers.
