  • "Paleo" Drink Concoction

A deviation to a great quote…I am Paleo 100% of the time most of the time. I cheat one day a week, not with breads, dairy, ice cream, sugar additives, etc. I cheat with alcohol. Perhaps one of these days I will forgo some beers and vodka and be an official caveman, but not this weekend.

So tomorrow is my one day a week. I mean Kettle vodka has no sugar or carbs so it’s Paleo right!?!?! JK. I stick with Kettle and water and don’t add sugar mixers or carbonation. This weekend I am heading on a trip and wanted to share an idea and perhaps gather some insight from anyone that has created an identical beverage.

I bought a ½ gallon Igloo cooler. I plan on filling it with grapes, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple and apple slices. I will then add a healthy amount of Kettle and let the concoction sit over night. I figured tomorrow I can eat the fruits as an enjoyable snack and mix the remaining juice/kettle with some water to make a cocktail.

Anyone try something similar? Think I should add any other type of fruit? I don’t want to add any sprite, soda, apple juice or mixer. Remember, I’m trying to be Paleo here (facepalm).

No carbs does not mean it's Paleo, and no vodka isn't Paleo.

You would think quotes, "HA" and (facepalm) would have given the clue. Clearly I was poking fun of myself and the people that claim 100% Paleo when that clearly is not the case. Thanks for your input!

It's Ketel One, btw, which reminds me...I don't have much left.

The stuff is great and I feel fine the next day.

Regardless of the label I've had this discussion ad nauseam with friends. At a bar/restaurant, do you order a "Kettle One & Soda/Water" or a "Kettle & Soda/Water?" I’ve always referenced “Kettle” and I am never wrong…just don’t ask the dude a couple replies above.

Yeah, I get that, but you can read the label, too, right?

Sorry for the snark, but...well maybe I need a drink. And why do you ruin your lovely vodka with soda? Stick to cheap vodka if you're just gonna mask the mouth feel with soda. Saves you some $$.

But it's not paleo, technically. I'm primal myself, so the liquor stays. I have cut it down, but not out.

That is what I was going to say, to hell with the Paleo, go Primal and enjoy an occasional libation.... Paleo's are too wacko for me...
              I Kettlebell therefore I am.

I fully understand it is not Paleo and I only drink with some water. It is delicious. My Saturday night Kettle ONE and occasional beer are two things I just don't want to give up.

I've been to many a pool party with a vodka-filled watermelon. Your cooler of treats should be delicious.

Put some of the macerated fruit in the freezer = vodka popsicle.

Tea is perfectly paleo or primal.
                    No problem there at all.
Because that's generally what you make with the water from a kettle...

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.

Would you quit harassing him about his spelling!

And yes, your cooler idea sounds great. Throw the leftover juices on some soda and ice if you want to switch it up a bit!
