  • Primal Icecream (I know I know)

    Obviously this isn't as Primal as eating a grass fed ribeye with bacon asparagus(my favorite) but I though it would be fun. I have a Cuisine Art Ice Cream maker and decided to make primal icecream. It turned out better then most ice creams I ever had. Here are the ingredients.

    2 1/3 cups of Organic Heavy Cream
    2 1/3 cups of Organic whole milk
    3 organic cage free eggs
    4 organic cage free egg yolks
    2 Tbsp of Organic Vanilla Extract
    1/2 cup of Organic Maple Syrup

    I just followed the instructions from the Cuisine Art recipe book. It was amazingly good. I also calculated the nutrition facts:
    Serving Size - 1/2 Cup
    Calories - 251
    Fat - 17
    Protein - 2
    Carbs - 17.5

    Shoot, last night I tossed 3 frozen bananas, 1/2 can coconut milk, and a couple teaspoons of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon in the blender to make something like vanilla ice cream. Freaking delicious.

      I do a combo of full fat coconut milk and almond milk and its tasty.

        I don't get what the milk is for. Shouldn't that be more cream?
        Disclaimer: I eat 'meat and vegetables' ala Primal, although I don't agree with the carb curve. I like Perfect Health Diet and WAPF Lactofermentation a lot.

          I often do frozen raspberries or stawberries or blueberries with my handheld blender, adding a drollop of heavy cream, for ice cream. For sherbet like, I leave out the cream. If I need a little extra moisture, I have used water -- and even once lemon juice which was very refreshing. Heavy cream, a splash of coffee, and some cocoa for mocha --although it turned out softer than I wanted -- I froze it for a bit. I also made mocha with frozen banana which was very good.

            The coconut milk is the cream as it's full fat. The other milk is the additional milk. This is a dairy-free version as we're dairy intolerant over here. I suppose you could just use multiple cans of full fat coconut milk but that gets $$$ compared to doing half coconut milk and half alternate milk. It comes out nice and creamy though.

              I made some with coconut cream, avocado, cocoa and black berries. puree, sieve, put in container and freeze. Delicious.

                This is a brilliant ice cream base, super easy, very tasty, very PB friendly.

                    I found the same with bread. It doesn't taste of anything now, so I don't feel it's worth eating any more. Mind you, I still keep away from my breadmaking machine, as I'm not sure i could resist the smell of a freshly baked German Rye loaf.
