  • Japanese Village Steak Sauce - which oil should I use??

I love love love the steak sauce at Japanese Village and have decided to make some at home... but I'm just not sure which oil I should use instead of Veg. Any suggestions?

There are 2 recipe I intend to try:

    Simple One:
    1 cup toasted sesame seeds
    1 1/3 cup Vegetable oil
1 cup low sodium Japanese Soy Sauce
    1/3 chopped white onion
    1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
*Mix in a blender and enjoy

    A little more work:
cup Soy Sauce (Japanese Shoyu type)
    1 cup Vegetable Oil
    cup Toasted Sesame Seeds
    1 Egg yolk
    tablespoon Dry Mustard
    1 Clove Garlic, large (Minced)
cup Chopped Onion (One small Onion)
    cup Whipping Cream
*Mix in a blender and enjoy (suggests doing soy sauce, garlic, onion and seeds for 30 seconds first and then add the rest)

I would try the extra light olive oil - with all those strong flavors in their it should be fine. It sounds amazing by the way!! I think I will try making it - but with gluten free tamari instead of regular soy.

It is amazing - but at JV you (can, and I do) eat it with everything and they cook everything in Veg Oil, so it's a little over the top for my new primal lifestyle.

I was considering sesame oil, but I wasn't sure if it would end up too sesame-y (?).
I think I'll try the extra light olive oil.
But I'm keeping the soy sauce (at least for now).

        Thanks for the help!!

The tamari is actually soy sauce and is really delicious - it is just made without any wheat - just in case you are interested in staying totally wheat free.
