  • Yet another use for eggs

Or to be more specific, egg whites.

I just thought that I would put this out there.
Recently I have been trying to up my protein, and egg whites are just another way to do it.
I have begun to substitute them for tortilla wraps, as a large fried egg white, if made to be thin,
seems to work in the same way.

If you then add a filling (with my personal favourite being beef mince) just before the egg white is fully firm, and roll it into a wrap on your pan, it holds together reasonably well.

Give it a go, and perhaps you would enjoy it.

    What happens to the yolk?

Ah, this is simply for egg whites I am afraid, I buy them without yolk from the UK chain, Waitrose. To my knowledge they are available via online ordering. Sorry that I could not give a better answer.

Not the OP, but I always have extra whites about from making mayo and other things.

Neat idea! I always have whites left over from yolks which have been dropped into various "aise" sauces.

i came up with a couple of ideas ...

First, similar to this idea: living in the ice age: Bacon & Fried Egg Sandwich
That, or make up a "mega egg": living in the ice age: Leftover Egg White Breakfast

Egg whites from Waitrose? I've not seen this.

Yolks are great, but whites are underrated.

Oh, yet another use is "pancakes" - whip up the whites and fold into a cream cheese to make a batter. Drop onto a frying pan to make little cakes. You know, "drop scones".

That sounds great - must give it a go!

I think I may just prefer your ideas to mine.
By the way, some Waitrose branches sell "Two Chicks" egg whites, but they are often difficult to find.

Of course ... I've seen these at Sainsbury's, I think.
