So I feel like making a stew but haven't made any since going primal. Can anyone suggest a recipe that doesn't contain potatoes. Or is it as simple as not putting any in and upping the amount of other veges and meat?

I've made a delicious stew with yams instead of potatos. And red wine in the gravy - YUMMY!

I happily eat potatoes so this isn't an issue for me! But often I'll use carrots, turnips and either parsnip or celeriac, with lamb chops to make a potato-less stew. Delicious! I like to put a couple of sprigs of rosemary in there....

Turnips make a great potato substitute, or yams.

Use potatoes if you want to, or leave them out, or whatever. You CAN change recipes, you know. Or just use them as rough guidelines.

Turnips make awesome potato stand-ins, as does upping the rest of the veggies or dumping several handfuls of greens in your bowl before pouring the stew over.

Jicama cubed just as you would potatoes in stew gives you the texture and satisfaction of a potato. Yummy!

Yeah, turnips, rutabaga, jicama, cauliflower, mushrooms, zucchini - all make great sub for potatoes. If you want to substitute them. Boiled in a stew white potatoes are a good source of pure starch. Some dishes do not need potatoes. I find bortsch without potatoes tastier! Try your stew recipe with various different veggies, and if you miss potato, add some, don't be afraid!

THIS! I've never had celeriac....but I especially love parsnips in stew or with potroast. Plus the occastional potato isn't the end of the world.

The last stew I made in my slowcooker had beef, turnip, celery root, carrot, sweet potato, onion, garlic, assorted herbs & spices, beef broth, diced tomato. As my 16 year old son was wolfing it down happily, he was completely flabbergasted when I told him there was nary a potato in sight. It was very tasty, and nobody missed white potato at all.

Experiment to see what tastes good to you.

Another one I haven't seen mentioned is adding cubes of squash.
