  • Bone from ham

I made a big 3lbs ham with the bone still in it today. Is there something I can do with the bone?

SOUP! cabbage, onions, carrots and potatoes if you eat them.......I love tomato in my soup....would be great with left over ham, or even some hunks of pork stewed up with it!

I was thinking of soup but have no clue how to do it exactly. I have one big bone which just fits in my pan.

I just trow in the bone, and the stuff you named and let it go on low for a long time?

I would add the bone, a bay leaf, an onion halved, maybe some celery leaves if you have it and let that simmer on low. Then extract the broth and add the rest of your ingredients and make soup from it. You dont want to cook veggies until they are nothing but mush, some of the nutrients will remain in the broth, but you do lose quite alot of them in the long cooking process

Stock! Stock! Stock! Simmer the bone for many hours, almost until it's gone soft ... extract all the goodness and drink the broth.
