Proud to say I didn't come home with a single one! Poor hubby didn't even get to taste them they went so fast. Makes me happy. I think the best one was the cacao nib one.

There seems to be very little that is primal about these. I'm all for the occasional indulgence that still fits in with a primal way of eating but I think it's very easy to become more and more relaxed about what you eat until you've gone too far.

You are putting it out there as a primal recipe. I don't know what coffee mate is but I'm guessing that being in a shelf stable jar, it's got to have a lot of additives.

Sorry, that's my unsolicited 2c. Obviously you've been doing this a lot longer than I have but I read your threads and wonder if you just followed the plan without trying to come up with substitutes for everything, it would be a lot easier for you.

I'll go back in my corner now...

            Amaretto Coffe-Mate ingrediants:
WATER, SUGAR, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN AND/OR COTTONSEED OIL, AND LESS THAN 2% OF SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE)**, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, DISODIUM PHOSPHATE, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, CELLULOSE GEL, CELLULOSE GUM, COLOR ADDED, CARRAGEENAN.

Yeah, not eating that. Sorry Dr. Bork-these sound awesome but...

Hey I did note in the recipe you can use regular cream. It's been there the entire time.

But isn't that kind of like saying "Here is my recipe for primal lasagne. It has wheat pasta in it, but if you don't like that you can substitute with zucchini strips" That Coffee-mate stuff seems to be as anti-primal as wheat now someone has posted the ingredients.

It's your blog and obviously you can post whatever you want on it. It could just be confusing for someone who reads the recipe on here and subsequently thinks that something that is full of sugar and chemicals is ok.

if it's that big of a deal, I'll retake the picture with la creme coffee creamer or naturally sweet coffee creamer (both have more primal ingredient lists). It's the holidays, Primal kinda goes out the window.
sorry, not in a good place today

"if it's that big a deal" - naw it's just partially hydrogenated krap oil. No biggie. It's just so Sandra Lee to use COFFEEMATE as an ingredient. Dang!

But this is primal junk food - not really primal. It's kind of the point.

Thanks, as always, Dr. B, for sharing your (free!) recipes.

Not on a Primal forum, it doesn't. Kinda disrespectful to post crap like that on here. No different than someone posting about what a great snack cheetos and oreos make.
It's not hard to put in the tiny bit of effort and use regular cream, with a flavor extract.

                          Ohmigosh, baked cheetohs are delicious!

I amended the recipe so y'all will be happy (and as I stated before, I had listed the measurements for cream to chocolate ratio, but nobody seemed to notice). The only thing I did was switch the position of the ingredients (cream + chocolate, then creamer + chocolate suggestion)

For a world of flavor possibilities, rather than flavored coffee creamer, how about flavor extracts (peppermint!) or maybe could you even mix in some flavored alcohol such as schnapps? Or orange zest might be pretty good. Or coffee? Use super dark chocolate? These look pretty good if not really primal. Sometimes I bring non-primal foods to potlucks.

how could anybody on this forum knowingly eat partially hydrogenated oils? that is not food. I would only feed it to people i didn't like.
