  • Primal "Cereal"!

So, I "discovered" something very simple out of boredom last night -

Take a cup of raw milk.

Add shredded coconut to desired consistency.

    Grab spoon.

    Be happy.

    ------------

Any ideas on other things to add to this nice little snack?

Personally, I am addicted to my 'Primal' cereal, so I won't eat it while trying to lose weight. But, I like to put together some chopped Almonds & Pecans, with flaked/ shredded coconut and topped with Raw Milk. I will sometimes throw in fresh berries (when in season).

I also made a 'Cream of Wheat' replacement when my 11 yr old and 4 yr old demanded some 'hot cereal' and I was out of meat. It's high in O6, due to the flax, but they loved it!

      Mix:

2 cups of Hot/ boiling Water

      1/4 cup Golden Flax Meal

1/4 cup Vanilla Protein Powder (mine has some Stevia in it)

      1/4 cup Almond Flour/ Meal

      1/8 cup Cream

      1/4 tsp Sea Salt

      1/4 tsp cinnamon

      Sweetener (if desired), to taste

I estimated the amounts, so don't quote me on this recipe. Again, due to the flax and the sweetener and even the Almond Flour, it is NOT what I would consider a constant 'Primal' staple. Also, I didn't really like the 'sliminess' from the flax, but my kids LOVED this! I was seriously shocked!

That actually sounds pretty good. I would add some slivered almonds too. I'll have to try it tonight

When I want something oatmeal-like (warm and slightly sweet), I heat a bowl of baked spaghetti squash doused in coconut milk and topped with nuts. Yummy.

I like your suggestion, too, and would add chopped pecans.

That sounds so good, Aaron. I'm definitely on board with that. I would add nuts and fruit too.

I also think if you would substitute milk with cottage cheese and then heat it up and add a bit of cinamon, it would have the same feeling as a warm oatmeal with a bit of crunch coming from coconut flakes.

I figured nuts and fruits (I'm a cashew fan myself - most delicious "nut" [aren't they technically not nuts] and low O6!)

I need to experiment with warming - some oatmeal or CoW-type concoction would be hit the spot right now - all this salad I've been eating and lack of warm cereal makes my 'dead of winter'-response training way out of whack. (I need to learn to make more soups - have the ingredients for the kombu-egg one waiting at home!)

I might actually try and make my own (first) recipe about this and blog it.
