  • Planning a Pumpkin Party - Ideas on the menu?

    Heyaz -

I'm having a dinner/arts+crafts party this week, and the theme is pumpkins. I've promised pumpkin carving and pumpkin eating. But now I need to figure out what exactly we'll eat. I've seen lots of pumpkin recipes, but I need help figuring out what will go well together for the party.

    Here are my thoughts:
    - Starter: Roasted pumpkin seeds
    - Side: Pumpkin Soup
    - Protein: Turkey loaf OR slow cooked chicken
    - Dessert: Pumpkin custard or Pumpkin muffins or Pumpkin cookies OR just pumpkin tea (I always debate if I really need to serve dessert at these things.)

I could also combine pumpkin and protein for something like a thai pumpkin curry or a pumpkin chili.

I'm serving somewhere around 10 people, so I want to do stuff that will be easy to do in bulk.

    Thanks for any ideas!

Cut the pumpkin into chunks, boil in big pot w/ a little olive oil & sea salt for 15-20 minutes or until soft. Drain. Scoop meat off shell, put back in pot (without the water). Add lots of butter, cinammon, allspice, and some honey or sugar (if that's compatible with your diet). Mash it all together, but leave some big chunks in it. I eat it w/o sugar or honey, but some like it sweeter.

Same here! As a long-time pumpkin lover, I'm swooning over this menu.
