  • Thoughts on frying eggs in residual fat from frying bacon in the same pan

I just fried a couple slices of bacon and picked them out and then cracked a couple of eggs in there and let them fry in the fat from the bacon. I'm not a huge fan of the taste of butter and I thought this was delicious.

I do it all the time. I also like to cut a tomato in half and cook it face down in the bacon fat and maybe throw in some mushrooms as well. For this I thank my grandmother, who never did quite get the hang of low-fat cooking even after that became all the rage (thank goodness).

I saw a puppy the other day. I pet it, and it was soft and warm and friendly. I thought it was adorable.

Thoughts on frying eggs in residual fat from frying bacon in the same pan:
        DELICIOUSNESS!

Seriously, standard around here. I was raised with my mom frying eggs in leftover bacon grease (and she's not even Primal/Paleo!)

              No, don't do it.

              Just don't.

My grandmother did this every day of her married life. Always delicious, and how the old folks used to do it to save $ and make things taste so darn good.

I cook the bacon, drain 1/2 the grease off, sauté some baby spinach and then stir in eggs. Sometimes I'll pull the spinach out and have it on the side, sometimes mixed in with the eggs. Good stuff!

No, pour the fat off and when you fill a can let me know and I'll dispose of it for you.

In all seriousness that is really the only reason I cook bacon, the meat I can take or leave, it's the fat I'm after. A dollop in salad dressing is delicious also, using it as the only fat in the dressing is a little overpowering to me.

When I cook bacon I use all the grease. I'll cook eggs in it, cook pork chops or beef liver in it until it is all gone and soaked up. Never waste a good fat.

Started PB late 2008, lost 50 lbs by late 2009. Have been plateaued, but that thing may just be biting the dust: more on that later.

My mom ladles the bacon fat over the eggs. Makes the yolk perfectly runny without having to flip them.
