  • Primal Fondue?

Heya! I like making fondue on Halloween night to avoid candy, so I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe with mild cheeses (cheddar and swiss?) and no flour? Can I just substitute tapioca starch 1 for 1? Juice rather than alcohol (have 5 yo).

I would do dairy on that one day, as the smallest of the evils.

You could do one of the ever delicious oil fondues as well.

Not really, not for our family I use a small slow-cooker, rather than a deep-fryier, and we like cheese ones, because they are safe to keep on the table all night long while you are running to the door or running around with the child etc, and all you have to do is to dip, not cook - so even a 5 yo can use it safely and fast. It's actually a perfect Haloween night thing! And mommy can't stand deep-fried food, which is the best reason lol! I have a very weird palate, I can't stand deep-fried foods, breaded meats in general, Italian cooking (hate, hate, hate pizzas and lasagnas even more so), don't care for chocolate... so I have no problems avoiding a lot of foods that tank other folks' efforts; on another hand anything with sweet-and-sour baked fruit-like (cobblers... strudels, crumbles), jams, jello's (and the candies like that) and pickled - that's my cravings. My grandma used to can sour apples in sweet syrop for the winter... and tomatoes, not like they do here, but in clear pickling liquid. OMG, I am so happy I do not have *that* recipe! And various obscure grains, like buckwheat and millet.
