  • I need coconut heavy recipes please (Tummy Recovery)

My better half is suffering from a bad flare up of his Colitis - and he's never tired coconut 'stuff' to help with that so I figured I'd present him with some safe foods. Apparently it's supposed to be really good for his condition and to heal the ulcers that are making him their bitch right now. The more calorie dense the better. He's skinny and he's dropping weight again. We need to keep him at a healthy weight!

    Thanks in advance.

try coconut bark (chocolate is my favorite), and straight up coconut cream concentrate & coconut milk
    Paleo Coconut Blueberry Bark

Oh, if he gets hungry, try toasting some wide coconut chips and serving with coconut milk (it's like Primal Special K!)

      1 banana
      1 can of coconut milk.
      Delicious.

Assuming of course that he can have bananas.

Oh yeah. He can have bananas. Just nothing spicy or acidic right now. Or lots of animal fat.

Bork - the bark is a great idea. Thanks!

For breakfast this morning he's getting a bowl of breakfast sludge. Figured I'd mix his probiotic yogurt with whey protein powder, and coconut cream. Gonna top it off with a sliced banana, toasted coconut flakes and chopped macadamia nuts. Sounds edible right? lol

I hadn't heard about coconut benefits for colitis. My daughter has UC. I would stick to things like coconut milk, cream, oil, etc. and not the meat (flakes, flour, etc) as I would think the fiber can be very abrasive on the colon and impede healing. I would also stay far away from nuts, seeds, etc. for the same reason.

The milk is high in fiber as well, which is why I have to avoid it. I don't have UC but issues with high fiber stuff. Coconut oil is great though, and supplementing with L-Glutamine is a good idea too. If he can do dairy you might want to look into a high quality whey. I have a smoothie most days and I'm lactose intolerant but it doesn't bother me.

Can I just ask what creamed coconut is?

Let's Do Organic Creamed Coconut, 7-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6): Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food

basically it's a block of coconut meat that you can cook with

coconut cream concentrate is a little easier to work with IMO. You can get it from Tropical Traditions.

if you can get some grains, he may like home-made kefir better than the fage.
