  • Primal "bread" (a dirty word, yes?)

Okay so I am in need of "bread" recipies that you have tried and like. I am on a dairy reintroduction program and need something to eat butter on (other than the usual things I eat) and since being primal for several months, feel I want to venture into primal baking a little more than I ever have. Normally I don't bake now

What have you tried and liked?

Well, I don't NEED it, but I sure am missing something to put butter and jam on occasionally, since it has been like 8 months since I had bread! Sometimes you just gotta give into a craving. I am not going back to SAD, or gluten-free starchy breads, and need a primal version for when these cravings strike.

I have tried a few coconut/almond muffin recipies, and they were good and all, but sometimes you just need an indulgence don't you think?

I copied this from a blog and can't remember which one or I'd give it credit. I haven't tried it yet, but it's in my to do folder. I'd really like to make a braunschweiger sandwich one of these days.

            Paleo Bread

            1 cups blanched almond flour
            2 tablespoons coconut flour
            cup golden flaxseed meal
            teaspoon celtic sea salt
            1 teaspoons baking soda
            5 eggs
            cup coconut oil
            1 tablespoon honey
            1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Place almond flour, coconut flour, flax, salt and baking soda in a food processor
            Pulse ingredients together
Pulse in eggs, oil, honey and vinegar
Pour batter into a greased 7.5" x 3.5" Magic Line Loaf Pan
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
            Cool and serve

Okay since I have most of these ingredients so I will try this tonight. I think that it will be better with more coconut flour instead of the flaxseed since that is what I don't have anyways. I tend to stay away from flaxseed......although I also tend to stay away from primal baking and treats too! So that doesn't say much

The only use of butter I like is for fruit roasting. That's sooo yum, and one pan operation, nothing to wash, and as the Winter is Coming, even more appealing.... Just suggesting I tried baking flax bread, it was Okay, but not great. I tried making coconut-tapioc-banana pancakes, and they did not turn out. My flax meal and cheese crackers tasted fishy, and that was the only thing that tasted fishy and I did NOT like. l I am just not a fan of baking without real flour. In my experience, it is better to use the recipies that are intended that way, not substitutes.

No I have not tried these, but I they look like the ultimate bread cheat. I am surprised that Dr. Bork Bork has not showcased them on her junk food blog yet.

I was surprised at how tasty this bread was! In a loaf pan, it's literally just like regular bread, ready to be sliced for sandwiches or whatever you want.

                              Look no further than these.

Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pao de Queijo) Recipe - Allrecipes.com

These puff up like a cheesy cream puff, but the lack of gluten makes them so incredibly soft and tender. They literally melt in your mouth.

My advice: use butter, not olive oil. And soy milk? LAUGH! Whole milk, please. As an Italian, I am a garlic addict, but on this recipe I'd skip it because it complicates the subtle flavor too much. I prefer the buttery, cheesy bread. I don't want this to be a garlic bread, but you're welcome to do what you wish.
