I was thinking of a truck. So... do it.

Whether or not it will fly depends on whether there is demand in your area. Make a real concerted effort to find that out first. I just watched a friend's business fail because there was just no demand for his services in his area. Bankrupt!

Also, check out your local government regulations regarding food businesses - lots of rules and regs for food. Including states that don't allow you to sell home-cooked foods (as opposed to cooked in an inspected commercial kitchen).
Positively Radical Pigeonholes are for Pigeons!

This idea crossed my mind and I have seriously considered going forward with it when I'm finished with college next year. Home-based could work assuming you have enough space for storage of veggies/fruit/baked goods and a few freezers for meat if you're going that route. As far as networking and building a customer base you could hit up local farmer's markets, crossfit gyms, and sporting events to name a few. In my area similar businesses that provide only organic produce have more demand than they can handle. I suspect this would be the case with paleo/primal as well. Wish I had the time/money to get something going now.

It's all about demand... I say Primal food truck with prepacked take home items might make more sense. Do you live in a large urban area?

This business -- The Primal Plan Natural Meal Delivery Miami, FL -- was featured on a local afternoon news program recently. I live just outside of their delivery area so I haven't tried it, but I think if I was a very busy person (I'm not) or didn't like to cook (I do) I would definitely look into it. Maybe if you contacted them, they could answer some questions for you. Since you're clear across the country I'm sure they wouldn't see you as the competition. And people in the primal community seem pretty open to advancing the lifestyle (ugh, I hate that word, it reminds me of 70s swingers).
              Good luck to you!

I live in Boston and moving to SF. SF is ALL ABOUT the food trends and anything off a truck. It would be epic win.
