  • Pizza Omlette?

My mum and I were discussing food (as one does while making dinner) and I brought up how much I miss pizza. The last time I had it my stomach went really bad, so as amazing as it is, it's not worth it. I've also been eating a lot of pepperoni over the last few days. I was in the middle of making an omlette, and mum suggested making a pizza using an omlette as the base. It seems so simple, I can't believe we didn't think of it before!

Has anyone tried this? What's your verdict? I'm getting more pepperoni tomorrow and when I come back from horseriding, I. Am. So. Having. Pizza. Omlette!!

I tried it and it just wasn't the same without some crispiness in the crust. YMMV

      Sounds delightful!

I've had good luck taming my pizza cravings by putting pizza sauce and mozzarella on a piece of chicken, also.

        have you tried having meatza?
and, yes, a frittata done pizza style seems really delicious

Personally I don't think meatza cuts the desire for pizza..even though I really like meatza... I've done pizza on oopsie roll and that is 'all right' but a bit of work... I'm thinking about doing something here with the eggs... maybe mixing in some shredded coconut to make it have a matt-ier consistency.... hrm... ....

It does work well, doesn't it? Before I even knew there was something called a Frittata, I was making them and some of my first were literally omelette pizzas.

Here's one I made a few years ago:

Oh wow, that looks amazing o_o I'm so gutted though, there wasn't any pepperoni in the sho so I'm had to settle wit a good old bacon and cheese omlette. I'm going to town tomorrow though so I'll stock up and have me a pizza then!!

I've make scrambled eggs with diced pepperoni and parmesean cheese mixed in the eggs. It's good!

I'm sure PixieKitten will confirm, but for me, the key is to get a hardened base without burning. Make an omelette and just before it fully sets, drop in some ingredients that you want to sink in and will hold the structure. Turn the heat down and that will harden the base which is the stuff you just dropped in will help hold the structure. Top with whatever you like. Cheese, if you like and under a grill (broiler?) for the top to cook through.
