  • Can we freeze Greek Yogurt?

I asked this to the tender at the meat market today and she didn't know. Is it possible (or good tasting) to freeze full fat Greek Yogurt so a cool alternative to ice cream on these hot summer days?

You can freeze it, but only if you're not going to eat it in the next week. Unfortunately it doesn't turn into awesome ice-cream-like substance like cool whip does. It just turns into a frozen rock of yogurt.
Alternatively, you can use it to make frozen yogurt if you have an ice cream maker. That's about the only freezing that will work and still have it retain its integrity.

If you haven't run into it yet, banana ice cream is a killer substitute.

        1) Take a banana, peel it, cut it into chunks, and freeze.
        2) Put it in a food processor.
        3) Optionally add flavoring & a little congealed (chilled) coconut milk. I like cocoa and cinnamon.
        4) Blend until it looks like ice cream.

        One banana makes one scoop.

Can you freeze it and then thaw to eat later? My local store has 2 litre containers on sale and I wanna stock up but there's no way I can eat 10 litres of greek yoghurt in 2 weeks no matter how hard I try.

this is what i was going to do, but just scavenge some off the top for a snack then put it back in the freezer. since i see that itll turn rock hard i guess i just need to try it to see how it works for me (if rock hard will be ok enough to go through for a snack)

I've taken to freezing Greek Yogurt with some berries overnight and keeping it in the fridge at work. By the time lunch rolls around, its a nice delicious slush.

Yes you can throw it in your freezer and defrost it later when you're ready to consume it. Just remove it from freezer the day before and place in fridge.

The only way to do that is to use it as a frozen yogurt base and make your own ice cream concoction. Sorry, pal.
I wish there was a way for heavy cream & greek yogurt to behave like frozen cool whip. That would Grok my world!

Well you said it turns into a rock, but i may jusy go the route of thawing it slightly before serving it up then.

It turns into a yogurt rock if you chuck it directly into the freezer unopened. There are recipes online for using yogurt as a frozen yogurt base. You just need an ice cream maker. It's not that hard.
