    Hello... I made this tonight
    Butter Chicken in a Silky Sauce | Mark's Daily Apple

    It's good, but I would like it to be spicier. What can I add to it?

    Is your chili powder the dried cayenne powder? If so, a little more of that should go a long way.

    Otherwise, fresh chopped thai green chilis have very nice heat and would go great in that recipe.

      Basically the solution is "more peppers", fresh or otherwise.

      Cayenne pepper will indeed do the trick, and as a further benefit you can probably add it to any leftovers you have. Just be careful - it's very much a 1/4 teaspoon at a time thing.

          I would slice a couple fresh jalapeņos and toss those in.

            Jalapenos or sarranos (sic?). Dice them up. You can leave the seeds in, but they can sometimes get in the way, and anyways its the veins (the white parts) that contain a lot of the heat. I would also suggest you saute them with a little bit of garlic before throwing all the liquid on top.

                Add some Thai Red Curry PASTE (a little goes a long way). Also Sriracha hot sauce (found in the Asian section) could be used and added to each individual plate (if you were feed more than just you and others may not like it as spicy).

                  Bhut jolokia powder...I carry it with me everywhere I go and everything I eat that has meat or eggs gets some. Being full paleo and giving up nightshades would be a very bland world in my book. I won't do it. Deadly nightshades might cause inflammation in some people but "deadly" my ass. The only way they'll kill you is if you choke on one. That's not what I call deadly.

                    Chili paste and thai dragon peppers are my go-to for heat.

                      I gave up nightshades about 8 months before primal and it saved me - also made me think primal may be the way to go considering how much better I was with just nightshades removed from my diet. They may not be deadly to most, but they were heading me that way - in constant pain and on more ibuprofen than the max dosage and still curled up in a ball in pain most days and needing narcotics to sleep!

                      I now add black pepper to everything and it's amazing how spicy it can make food all by itself. I've found it works great in curries too thankfully as I love spicy food!

                        Chronic inflammation is deadly. I LOVE tomatoes and spicy food, but I'll take freedom from severe pain over spicy food any day.

                        And some of the nightshades truly are deadly....whether you're sensitive or not!
