  • Great fish roe sauce

    Roe sauce for fish
    1.5 cups Sour cream
2 tbsp Fish Roe (I used capelin roe, almost any kind should do)
    2 tbsp Mayonnaise
    1/2 Red Onion, finely chopped
    2 tbsp fresh Dill, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste (I used finely ground white pepper)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, stir, and leave in refrigerator for 30 minutes or more.
Makes a great accompaniment to smoked fish, for example.
This is a type of sauce popular in Sweden/Scandinavia.

It tasted so great I had to post it here!

Sounds really good. We do a steamed or water-poached grouper served cold with olive oil mayonnaise, I'll bet adding the roe would make it even better.

      Nice, thanks for sharing!

I've done a mayo/herbs/onion with fish a bunch of times, I think I'll do my usual but replace some mayo with sour cream and add roe... that would probably taste better and would definitely look more interesting. =]
