    But what do they mean when a recipe calls for "seasoning salt"?

    I found a steak marinade on food.com the recipe goes like:

    Servings:
    3-4 Servings Size

    Ingredients:
    1 teaspoon ginger
    1 teaspoon seasoning salt (?)
    1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce


    Can anyone help decipher this for me?

    I'm guessing they mean something like Lawrey's Seasoning Salt. Here's the ingredient list: http://adventuresofaglutenfreemom.fi...03/lawrys1.jpg

    It's not a crucial ingredient, just leave it out and adjust the other seasonings after you taste it.

      You can get paleo-safe seasoning salt, but it's tough to find. You can also just make up your own blend (there are lots of recipes online).

      Also, look out for the Worcestershire. It's not gluten free unless you specifically find a certified GF variety.

        Lea & Perrins is GF if it is made in the US.
        Most people don't realize how much energy it takes for me to pretend to be normal.

          I've got some Old Bay and it appears to be paleo-safe - nothing in the ingredient list that would give me any concern, and it's pretty widely available.

          OLD BAY® SEASONING

          I don't use it all that often, but it's nice if I just want something quick & easy to liven up a piece of meat.

              Just wanted to recommend the 30% less sodium Old Bay - I like a lot of flavor, so I can use more of it without making things too salty.

              Also, Lea & Perrins GF Worcestershire is awesome and lifechanging. It does have molasses and HFCS in it, but I'm just not hardcore enough to completely eliminate condiments with sugar if it's something I only use in small quantities.
