  • Gimme some good food dehydrator recipes!

I'm getting a 9-tray Excalibur for my birthday next week. I have some flank steaks just waiting to make jerky. Any other ideas?

Jerky and fruit leather are the usual foods for me.
    Sweet And Spicy Jerky Recipe
    Ingredients
    ■1 pound of meat
    ■1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    ■2 teaspoons dry mustard
    ■1/4 teaspoon allspice
    ■1/2 teaspoon ginger
    ■4 teaspoons brown sugar
    ■2 tablespoons paprika
    ■1/4 teaspoon pepper
    ■2 teaspoons salt

Combine all the dry spices and seasonings in a bowl. Add 1/4 inch thick meat strips and toss and coat the strips. Place the covered bowl in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours.

That sounds good. I've usually kept it simple with some tamari sauce with either ground pepper or chilli flakes for a bit of a kick, might give your recipe a go next time

Also, cut chunky slices of apples, soak them in lemon juice (could also sprinkle with a little cinamon) then dry. Made up a bunch of jars of these for family for xmas, they're all putting in their orders for refills now

I buy the cheap fruit that's on sale because it's really ripe and use that, works out nice and cheap.

Bacon chips. You just need really thinly sliced bacon, dehydrated at 170F for 3-4 or so hours.
