  • pork spare ribs

    I got a rack of pork spare ribs yesterday on sale. Normally I eat them slow cooked in sauerkraut, but for some reason that isn't sounding appealing to me right now.

    Any ideas of other ways to cook them? I don't eat nightshades, so recipes that don't need peppers, tomatoes, paprika, etc would be great!

    I have spare ribs in my freezer as well. I just started paleo 2 weeks ago and threw out all of my bbq sauce, wetrubs, and any other carb,dairy,sugar item.

    What I plan on doing is seasoning them in dry rub:

    Maybe try something like this:

    Only thing I would add is some water/chicken broth in the bottom to keep them moist.

    I have a fun and exciting journey ahead of me for cooking with different items

      Slow cook them on the grill... with a dry rub.
      Peak weight on Standard American Diet: 316.8 lbs
      Initial Weight When Starting Primal: 275 lbs
      Current weight: 210.8 lbs
      Goal weight: 220 lbs (or less): MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

        Yes, wrap use a dry rub barbecue or other. Wrap them in foil, put them in a pan with a lid, and they will come out falling off the bone juicy. I love spare ribs!

          Get a smoker! You can get a fairly cheap electric one (~$80) at Lowe's or Home Depot. I've love mine because I can use it on my apartment patio. I really want to modify it so that it has temperature control like this guy did: Taming my Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker | NateElston.com so that I can cold-smoke for stuff like salmon, jerky, and even cheese!

            It is AMAZING!!! I bet they would be even better cooked in a smoker....hmmmm, I might have to try that!
