    Bacon Wrapped Dates.

It really isn't a recipe, but I just made some, and WOW they are good. It's seriously like candy. Or crack.

Take some dates (I used dried, because it's what I had, but fresh would be just as good if not better I think), wrap bacon around them, pop into a 350 degree oven until crunchy.

    Eat while making "OMNOMNOM" sounds.

I had these on New Years' Eve, and I was thinking about them today...how odd of a timing.

Did the grease from the bacon make the dates wet/soft? (I don't know anything about dates, but the ones I had were soft)

Because I used dried, they just plumped them up enough to be really nice and soft, not mushy or too chewy.

Last time I did these I stuffed them with goat cheese and toasted almonds. Sweet + creamy + crunchy + bacon... pretty perfect.

I made them for Christmas, and stuffed them with cream cheese. They were amazing.

Does anyone have a recipe for the sauce they are typically served with at tapas restaurants? I have no idea what's in the sauce. It's slightly sweet and a dark reddish-brown color. I've never had bacon-wrapped dates any other way.

cripes, on their own they're so rich I can't imagine adding sauce to the mix!
