Ok, I really don't understand the prices I am seeing in the links and on the web.

My local whole foods (Allen and Richardson Texas - Dallas suburb) sells raw macadamias for 10.99/lb.
The online web prices in the links in this thread have them at 13.99/lb to 14.99/lb. That is a ridiculous difference, whats going on here? I was hoping I could order online because I thought 10.99/lb was too expensive but I guess I will just be raiding my local Whole Foods....

Went to Good Earth yesterday and got 2 lbs raw macadamias. Mauna Loa would've cost 5x at much if I got it at the grocery store. This nut is in macadamia heaven now

In case anyone is interested, the vendor I ordered from last time seems to have brought the price back down on their raw macadamias (which are excellent quality, btw). You can get:

          - 2lbs for 16.99+5.99 S+h, so $11/lb
          - 5lbs for 39.99+7.49 s+h, so $9.50/lb (update: OOS now, guess someone got the last one!)

          Macadamias - Whole 2 lbs. (32 oz.): Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food

TJs has always been my nut source. However, the mac nuts I recently purchased there were "off" -- on the verge of rancidity. Big disappointment. The store was great about taking them back and refunding. Rather than try again, however, I went back to mac nuts from WF. Will have to check out the online resources posted in this thread. Great info.

Mauna Loa macadamias on Amazon have skyrocketed just the last 30 days. Three 12 oz bags went from $22 (subscription price) to $35. Back to Planters' macadmias from WalMart for a while.

It would be easy to make your own. And the added benefit is that you know exactly what's in 'em. Melt unsweetened chocolate with a bit of butter. Dip raw nuts. Set on parchment paper. Enjoy.

All the roasted macadamia nuts from nutsonline are roasted in peanut oil––no thanks!!!

Trader Joe's has the best deal I've found: dry roasted Macadamia nuts (from Australia) for around $8/10oz. bag. It's hard to find them anywhere else for less than $1/oz.

I just bought several pounds of raw organic macadamia nuts from nuts.com they were 18 bucks/lb. With shipping (3 lbs.) it was just over $20/lb. I like roasted and salted better, but I'm getting used to these, maybe too used to them :-)

I walk outside and pick them up off the ground (right time of year of course) I do buy them too, just about anywhere - organic store, newsagency, supermarket, markets... (but then, I do live in Queensland )

I live out in the sticks with no good stores for foods, and I get all my nuts and nut butters from Nuts.com. They have the best customer service in the world--as well as the fastest shipping.

I will only buy my raw macadamias from places that keep them refrigerated. It makes a gigantic difference in the flavor. Unfortunately, Whole Foods (or at least the ones near me) do not refrigerate them. But I have found a local market that does.
