What are some tasty salad dressing ideas? I always use olive oil and red wine vinegar. Any other suggestions people have tried? Thanks.

I LOVE Green Goddess Dressing. It's primal, and totally retro :-D

Green Goddess! Haven't heard that one in years! Might have to try that again.

I really like Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Never get tired of that.

Crumbled blue cheese, no liquid. 100 calories per ounce, which is a LOT.

And/or, 1 oz of coconut milk. Use the ones with an emulsifier in it or else the fats solidifies right out on the cold lettuce. 45-60 calories.

I use a base of stone ground spicy mustard( 2 tb) then some apple cider vingear, squeeze of fresh lemon juice, fresh spices out of my herb garden or you can use a dash of dried Italian herbs, olive oil and a tad of agave nectar or raw honey(I like my dressings a bit sweet) some crushed garlic and fresh ground pepper

everyone always asks for my salad dressing recipe!

I can't get enough of really good EVOO whisked with lemon juice and salt and pepper. And when I'm in a more creamy mood, I add some creme fraiche or blue cheese.

Cook bacon in a nice deep cast iron pan. Take out the bacon and remove pan from heat. Toss the greens in the bacon grease until barely wilted and then back into your salad bowl. Throw the rest of your fixings on top, including the bacon (chopped up). This works best with heartier greens. If it's not wet enough, toss on some olive oil.

OTB that reminds of a very weird conversation I had last week...a friend we'll be visiting soon said he got an amazing gluten free/sugar free/raw apple pie-ish recipe that is apparently delicious...then tells me it uses agave nectar! I didn't have the heart to tell him that it's definitely not sugar free at the moment, he was just so excited, but I'll tell him when we get there. Funny because I never considered it anything other than a different type of sugar, like honey or molassas.

Shine, I can think of no better dressing than bacon grease

PG, or put your agave nectar in the trash. That's what I did after learning the truth about it. Almost full. What's a few dollars compared to your health?

When I found out that $5 bottle of coconut keifer was loaded with sugar, down the drain. It hurt, but not as much as consuming that sugar.

Yup, me too, I trashed the 'Nectar. Although, I still don't know what to do with the umpteen kinds of "healthy" whole grains and sprouted flours I have in my pantry.

                              Favorite homemade dressing:

                              1 bunch parsley

                              1 bunch basil

                              1 clove garlic

                              1 tsp black pepper

                              1 tsp crushed red pepper

                              1/2 cup EVOO

                              1/4 cup lemon juice

Put the parsley, basil and garlic in a food processor. Pulse until it's all chopped fine. Add the pepper and red pepper, then drizzle in the EVOO while pulsing everything. Add the lemon juice the same way you added the EVOO. This'll cover about three servings of salad.
