  • Primal Cookie Dough, with possible savory alternatives

Pantry/fridge is becoming very empty fast and money is tight so I've been scavenging for food (kids are fine, they have lots of yogurt and other things to eat). I'm sure someone has made this before, but i didn't see a recipe anywhere. So here it is! All amounts are very approximate.

    1/2 c hazelnut flour/meal
    honey, to taste
1 T coconut oil or butter
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    (opt) choc chips
    salt to taste

If you want a savory snack instead of sweet, you could omit or drastically reduce the honey and omit the cinnamon, then add various savory spices, like curry powder, etc.

Yummy! So do you eat it like cookie dough, or bake to make cookies?

Sort of a healthy version of Nutella: http://www.nutellausa.com/ingredients.htm

I love hazelnuts, and I can always tell when it's added to chocolate. A friend just brought back some chocolate from Italy; I took one bite and knew it had ground up hazelnuts in it.

In case anyone doesn't know, hazelnuts are also called filberts.

What is acting as the liquid in this recipe? The flour to oil ratio is pretty small, so I'm thinking it's quite a lot of honey?

I think the oil will act as liquid for this amount of flour.

It's not for baking, just for eating. I don't think it would bake well; maybe if you add an egg it might work.
