  • Food Porn (Hot delicious pictures that get you excited)

I thought I'd start a thread where people can post what awesome dishes they've made.

Here's my most recent dish - NC Grouper with a homemade roasted tomato salsa with peppers. Roasted Eggplant and heirloom tomatoes with farmers cheese.

Oh, wow! That looks great! The colors make it look even more appetizing.

Haha yeah, it's grouper not chicken - was very delicious. I topped it off the next night with some Black Sea Bass wrapped in Fig leaves, Sea Salt and Olive Oil - 18 minutes, 9 minutes per side in the Big Green Egg. Oh man was it delicious. Living in NC, I'm also a huge fan of Pork - especially heritage bred hogs fed a diet of 'whey'. I love Chapel Hill Creamery, they have like 0 waste.

I have so many that I made a web album:

Enjoy, but don't let the drool destroy your keyboard...
Sometimes you need to be told the truth in order to be able to see it.

                My journal

                I see grain people...

                Exist in shadow, drifting away.

Bass in fig leaves looks amazing (as does the rest of it.)
I feel like i should be deleting my browsing history.

I always feel like a pig when I look at other people's food porn. I sure hope everyone that posts food photos goes back for seconds (and thirds...quite possibly fourths). My (huge) plate is always a PILE of food. :P

                          loving the "chefs" here...pretty cool!

Made 2 recipes from Mark's Primal Cookbook this week already...

                          ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

Fish Soup (salmon, shrimp, cocnut milk, basil, ginger, cauliflower, carrots, lemon and others....YUM!)

Last night had Shrimp Cake Salad...UNREAL!
Purple cabbage, spinach leaves, carrots, cukes...dressing was to die for: coconut milk, almond butter, mint leaves-fresh, cilantro-fresh, fresh squeezed lime juice...just absolutely amazing!

If all primal dishes are this good...I will NEVER miss my former favs...these are already taking over! (and I feel better too!! which is the most important!)

I was away for a few days, and the forum doesn't work so hot on my iphone. I love the links to food, Most of the stuff I've been posting has been stuff I've cooked on my BGE (Big Green Egg). I should probably start a food blog (I'll put some of the cooking details in for each items I post) Hope others post more Food Porn too!

So to prove I don't just cook 'meat' Here's my Okra/Mint Roast recipe.
Some people don't like Okra because they think it's slimy - here's a way to cook it where it will NOT be slimy.

                            - 1 bunch of Okra from my farmers market CSA
                            - half a cup of mint from the yard
                            - half a red onion, or whatever onion really
                            - 5 cloves of garlic sliced
                            - some heirloom cherry tomatoes (optional)
                            - 1/4 cup of olive oil
                            - salt/pepper
                            - a roasting pan or tray with parchment paper on it. (makes clean up a cinch and nothing sticks to the pan)

Toss it all in a bowl

Okra Mint before roast by Michael Wootini Maher, on Flickr

after 10 minutes at 400 degree, broil it for 2 more minutes (gives it a nice crisp)

                            serve it up and delicious!

Roasted Okra Served by Michael Wootini Maher, on Flickr

I wouldn't recommend adding cumin or other spices to it, it interferes with the mint playing off the okra flavors. If you wish to do that, I'd recommend replacing the mint with another herb that's not to heavy on the flavor. This recipe makes a perfect slimeless okra.

This was a quickie cook job on Saturday - My primal patties

1 lb of grass fed local beef
2 slices of heritage pork bacon
                              1/2 a medium onion
                              1 medium egg

(optional: 1/2 cup of peppers of any kind)

For chicken, simply olive oil and salt/pepper.
