  • new meatza variation: shawarma!

    The initial blame for this is on Diana Renata for getting everyone to talk about meatza in her primal journal. Secondary blame goes to 216 for posting great food porn of his meatza. I had to join in.



    introducing the shawarma meatza. Lamb, red potatoes, pickles, goat cheese with a tzatziki sauce to die for. Recipe over in my blawrg:

                      That ROCKS!!

                      Sometimes when I don't ahve lunch I run to the mall here and get schwarma salad... but this looks SO much better! Yummm!

                          Tried it tonight! The kids LOVE it - they didn't mind the lack of "real" crust. Thanks for sharing your recipe! The pickles add a great funky note; I really liked it!

                          One comment - it doesn't say how long to cook after adding the toppings (or did I miss it?). I did 25m baking, I think, and then at least 10 more minutes when I remembered I have a broiler, and the potatoes still weren't quite as cooked as I'd like. How long did you cook it w/ toppings?

                              yeah, i didnt mention it. haha. i was just watching the cheese for time - as soon as that started getting brown, i took it out.

                              i take it you want the potatoes crispier? i did too but was too lazy after microwaving, you could just toss them on their own sheet alone under the broiler, or alternatively, just put the whole pizza under the broiler after the toppings are put on instead of the oven.
