  • Unintentional Discoveries

Cocoa Powder has like what, 10 calories and 3 carbs per tablespoon? I abuse this quite a bit and put cocoa powder in my coffee most mornings.

Today, I mixed the cocoa powder with some heavy cream in the bottom of my mug while the coffee brewed and before I knew it I had a cocoa flavored cream with the consistency of a thick whipped cream.

This weekend I will be doing it with about 1/4 cup of cream and putting it on top of some coconut flour pancakes with strawberries!

What unintentional kitchen discoveries have you made?

Yea, cacao powder is quite amazing. I love the stuff.

My recent discovery is that sunny side up eggs with the egg yolk very runny is far superior in taste then an omelet that has the yolk cooked heavily. Not really an uncommon discovery but it was new to me. After I cook my eggs I throw some veggies in the pan just to warm them up and then toss them on the eggs with some avocado and salsa... BEST BREAKFAST EVER!!! A few cherries on the side goes well with it too
    Find me at aToadontheRoad.com. Cheers!

If you added bacon to that you just described my breakfast pretty much every morning.

Eggs cooked different ways (scrambled, boiled, poached, sunny side up) with veggies
      Bacon
      1/2 Avocado
Berries (blueberry or strawberry) and coconut milk on top

AND OF COURSE COCOA POWDER COFFEE BITCHES

1.) Balsamic vinegar is awesome on strawberries.
2.) It really IS possible to get enough bacon, just takes some doing.
3.) Tarragon really IS an aphrodesiac. See my journal today ;-)

Microplaned Apple + spices = suspiciously like oatmeal, but better.
Greens are actually pretty tasty if cooked right.
Cabbage is somewhat tasty if prepped right.
            Mayo is still nasty.
The best dessert in the universe: chocolate whipped heaven and berries (if it makes it to the table to join the berries...)
Butter and bacon really do make everything better. They're kinda like WD- 40 and Duct tape when I'm cooking.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, steak in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Holy F***, What a Ride!"

Adding mashed avocado to any stir-fry is a great way of thickening it up and giving it a nice creamy consistency, yum!

                  1) Coconut Milk = awesome
                  2) Garam Masala goes with everything
                  3) Vanilla works with anything with eggs in it (IMO)
                  4) 'Boring food'/leftovers + random spices = new and exciting.
                  5) I can make a better salad than any restaurant in town.(including the salad bar places)
                  6) Avocado is a nice way to add moisture-y goodness to a 'burger'

Left over chilled coconut milk ROCKS in Chai tea.
Clafouti 'pizza' is far better then meatza--Hubby really likes the clafouti version better.
Chicken/Bacon/avocado salad with blue cheese is the bomb, is my go to when I am in duh mode for dinner AND it convinced my folks PB is the way to go!
Eating in is far better then eating out.... unless it is a picnic.
garlic cheesie eggs cooked by dh is just the thing when sick--as I have been the past 2+ weeks
Every day is another stitch in the quilt of life.

                      Word.

I love coconut pancakes. I follow Mark's recipe from the cookbook and then add 1 T of cacao powder

Thanks to naiad I just discovered Marscapone.

Seriously, 60 calories per tbsp and no carbs or sugar? I don't understand how something like this can exist. Last night I whipped up some whip cream and then mixed it with marscapone and cocoa powder and put it on top of some strawberries with pecans to go with my steak, asparagus and red wine and it was absolutely delicious.

I ate some more this morning on top of my blueberries, and I'll probably have more tomorrow and the day after that until this container is empty!

Please god don't let their be something unprimal about this because I am in love with it right now.

+1 to cocoa powder in the morning!
+1 to coocnut milk is awesome

I can make almost a litre of cocnut milk and a cup of thick cocnut cream for 0.27

Today I added cream to my coconut pancakes and they were even more moist and decadent

Bacon soaked in water to remove the unhealthy salt does not taste anywhere near as good

LIver is one of the cheapest form of protein and even more nutritious (can be made to taste good)
                          - same for tinned mackeral

                          Salads are awesome

The vegetarian myth is the greatest book ive read

Lemon juice, and excessive herbs such as oregano can replace the need for salt

                            Rivvin-
If you like mascarpone, chocolate, and whipped cream, try chocolate whipped heaven. Whip together until blended a 5:3 ratio of heavy cream and mascarpone. Add to taste cocoa powder. Eat with berries.
