I took the pill/patch on and off for the better part of 6 years only to realize the side effects were just not worth it, and in some cases - continuous migraine with aura - were a precursor to more serious issues - potential stroke. So, I bid the pill adieu - stopped taking it mid-pack. For some time I used only barrier methods, but now with being in a monogamous relationship, I use FAM/charting and barrier methods. I recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" before using FAM/charting methods. I use a LadyComp personal basal body temp monitor which wakes me up at the exact same time every day, records my temp, and gives me a green (go-infertile), yellow (caution), or red (GTFO - fertile days) light based on my cycle and patterns collected since I started using it 2 years ago. Patterns are better detected over a longer period of use, so the longer you use it, the more accurate it becomes. In the first few months of using it, it's mostly all yellow and red lights. Then the green lights or infertile days become more common. It also helps having a partner with uh, a lot of control in that department. On yellow days, we use condoms. On red days, we abstain or use dual methods - condom and sponge, usually.
No announcement yet.
(How) should I quit the pill?
