Oops, my mistake. I managed to delete the "25" from "1000iu per 25 lbs of bodyweight" general starting point recommendation! Please do not take 150,000iu of vit d3
If you're interested in my (very) occasional updates on how I'm working out and what I'm eating click here.

          Wrong!

Most modern soil is magnesium depleted. You'll be lucky to get to 300 mgs from food, the RDA in America is 400 mgs, and that's probably too low anyway. *sigh*

I actually think magnesium deficiency is a bigger deal than vitamin D. But that's just me. Do whatever you want.

            Thanks

Further investigation needed, have you any good links to information on Magnesium?

We are going a bit off topic here, maybe we should start a new thread.

              Vitamin D: Need sunshine.
Magnesium: Need swimming in the sea.

Fortunately I have 10 days at the Spanish Coast booked for late June :-)

Or just get some magnesium chloride oil and use daily. Ten days on the Spanish coast is an... Expensive magnesium supplement.

Like I said, do what you want.

But I feel your pain, I don't have much luck with local UK gp's! It's terrible considering how little sun we get a lot of the time

Hi Drumroll, I am curious to this point. I really get it how our soils are depleted, and that even organic produce may have lower levels than those foods our grandparents and forebears enjoyed. Poss exception = wild greens.

Could you say more about magnesium dosage and deficiency? I take 500mg a day, the aim is to take before bedtime, partly as a sleep aid, but I'm often forgetful at that time.
