  • Inspirational photos and some, well, just sad

I have run across several photos or graphics lately that were either funny/sad or inspirational. Thought I would start up a thread to post them if anyone is interested.

Here is one, truth in a drawing on this one:

And this one I like the hell out of, up on my wall in my office:

Wow, the last one is very aggressive! Why not say something like:
"I succeed because I am willing to make you part of a shared success. Together we have more chances to succeed than alone against each other - I also succeed because I can chill out when things don't look as expected " huh ?

Because the OP is from Texas, not from France.

        ^THIS^

But as to your question FrenchFry, perhaps different things work better for different people. After about 35 years working in EMS, fire fighting, law enforcement and working in various developing nations around the globe, aggressiveness is just what I do.

        This:

I succeed because I am willing to make you part of a shared success. Together we have more chances to succeed than alone against each other - I also succeed because I can chill out when things don't look as expected
Is a bit too much Kumbayah for me, ok, a lot too much.

          No prob.

I have a slightly different life experience, but got also my share of aggressiveness and crap from moronic people. In the end, I still find that cooperation is better to achieve success. But I also like the gnolls credo

I like this one a lot! Reminds me why a certain large hamburger chain restaurant located near my home is in fact an enemy territory.

Excellent book, I have read it several times now and given it away as gifts. Rare to find books that are both entertaining and informative to read.

One of my favorite, by William Earnest Henley:

                  Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
                  For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
                  Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Wow, a friend of mine was in law enforcement for about that much, too. When he retired he nearly fell apart completely. Apparently law enforcement has the highest death rate post retirement of any other occupation. What happens is they live on adrenaline all their lives and then keel over as soon as they retire. Fortunately he changed his diet and now feels great. He'll beat the odds for sure. He's fairly kumbaya, also. Well not really that. More that he's super out-going and cheerful. You'd never know he spent his whole adult life with felons.
