Don't give up. One bad day doesn't mean every day from that point on has to be bad. A new day means a new beginning.

Hormonal blood work. Getting diagnosed with a hormonal imbalance and going on treatment has completely changed my life! Total inner transformation, and the outer is following
"I think the basic anti-aging diet is also the best diet for prevention and treatment of diabetes, scleroderma, and the various "connective tissue diseases." This would emphasize high protein, low unsaturated fats, low iron, and high antioxidant consumption, with a moderate or low starch consumption.

In practice, this means that a major part of the diet should be milk, cheese, eggs, shellfish, fruits and coconut oil, with vitamin E and salt as the safest supplements."

Remember you have many decades to live. You probably don't want to look back and realized you wasted them worrying about dumb stuff.

Once you get the food dialed in, move on! I stay here to watch the arguments. I don't even call it a forum anymore, I just say I'm "checking the arguments" when the wife asks where I am. But this unmoderated forum has become a death trap, a snake-pit of sugar addicts dedicated to derailing new Primal people from their goals. So, read the book, follow the book, and treat everybody here as casual entertainment, which we all are. If you need help resolving something, look to threads older than 2012 for the best advice.

My #1 tip is to stay out of the MDA forums. For the first year, at least.

                  You crave what you eat.

You can get used to eating things you never thought you'd like (like plain yogurt) and eventually you WANT to eat those foods. I recently weaned myself off of salad dressing so that now I eat my salads plain. As a matter of fact I'm sitting here eating a bag of lettuce like a bag of chips and that's what I was craving this morning.

You can't deprive yourself and expect it to be a life long change. So you need to create a healthy diet, in which you enjoy your meals and make room for occasional treats.

Also.... well, sometimes just use common sense and be patient. Really, very, very few people are fat because they ate 1/2 of a banana, 1/2 cup of rice or had an occasional beer. They are fat because they just chronically ate too much. And it takes time to fix that. And fixating on the 1/4 lb you gained when you had 1/2 a banana and deciding bananas made you fat so you can't have berries, carrots, squash or celery while eating 3000 calories of bacon and butter evades common sense.

Tips for PERSONAL success? Do you mean success in life? I don't have any of that, so I can't offer any tips. My number one tip for coping in life is that none of it really matters. It's all bullshit.

Tips for applying MDA stuff to your life? Just accept that it takes time. It takes time to get used to the change in diet, it takes time to make it all automatic, takes time to lose weight, to get used to the fitness piece, to make time for sleep and getting outside, takes time and effort to make better personal connections to others and to sever the detrimental ones to people and things, takes time to see progress in your strength and body composition. All you have to do is stay the course as best as you can and have patience. It also helps not to be so hard on yourself or perfectionistic/rigid about things. It's good to experiment and stay open to new ideas or to try old failed ones after time and healing have passed.

Stay clear of the overload of crap-information and stick to what really matters, and don’t unlearn what you have learned…

How do you handle people that say that they love you (obligatory relationships like parents or siblings) and chastise you for treating their games like just more flavors of bullshit?
"Ah, those endless forests, and their horror-haunted gloom! For what eternities have I wandered through them, a timid, hunted creature, starting at the least sound, frightened of my own shadow, keyed-up, ever alert and vigilant, ready on the instant to dash away in mad flight for my life. For I was the prey of all manner of fierce life that dwelt in the forest, and it was in ecstasies of fear that I fled before the hunting monsters."

I rarely believe in anything unless I've found enough information to satisfy me. IOW, if the most beautiful woman in the world said she got that way by eating goat turds, I wouldn't go on the Goat Turd Protocol unless the reasoning and my own reading satisfied me that it worked.
