I could try to think of movies I'd recommend to others, but instead, three movies I've seen many times and will watch again:

Battleship (current new favorite - "Let's see if we can buy the world another day." "Who talks like that?")
Sahara ("Wanna talk me through that again, Dirk?")
        Independence Day ("Welcome to earth!")

        Honorable mentions:

        Kung Fu Hustle
        House of the Flying Daggers
        Hero

        Oh yeah, one more:

        The King's Speech

Ok, where is the guy with the really obscure list of movies so that everyone can see how deep, indie and intelligent he is?
That's what I expected when I read the title!

My favorite movie is this dvd I have from a camcorder in like 1986, and I'm a lil kid with a huge head in brooklyn, eating salami and bread and telling my grandfather about my awesome dreams.
"Ah, those endless forests, and their horror-haunted gloom! For what eternities have I wandered through them, a timid, hunted creature, starting at the least sound, frightened of my own shadow, keyed-up, ever alert and vigilant, ready on the instant to dash away in mad flight for my life. For I was the prey of all manner of fierce life that dwelt in the forest, and it was in ecstasies of fear that I fled before the hunting monsters."

          Jack london, "Before Adam"

But new favorite, just saw the other night: Disco Godfather. Best terrible movie that I have seen to date.

That's a bit beyond my years and wasn't part of my "old movie" repetoire when I was growing up. I did watch the Three Stooges quite a bit when I was very young. "Silverscreen" old Hollywood is absolutely near & dear to me though. The original Philadelphia Story is definitely one of my favorites.

I haven't seen that one in a long time. I think I thought it was funny, but not that great.

                        Movies that effected my life:

                        Fantasia (original version)
                        Singin' in the Rain
                        Jet Pilot, with Janet Leigh

There were many other, that's 3.

If I had to choose just three that would be very hard. Here are some of my favourites

                            Army of darkness
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
                            Lord of the rings trilogy

And the one movie I have to watch every year...it's a wonderful life (in black and white)

There are so many more movies that I really like...princess bride, any of the Monty python movies, despicable me, brave heart, gladiator...

                              3000 Miles to Graceland

                                Gattaca
                                Amadeus
Pan's Labyrinth. Another poster reminded me.

                                Yep. Perfection achieved.
