Anyone know if this is serious?

hell yeah. mark was giving one of those away as a prize a few days ago. regular toilets put your body in an unnatural position for dropping a deuce. squatting is better in terms of alignment and things. these allow you to squat over your toilet bowl, or at least get your body closer to natural.

Once you squat for the first time, you never go back... lol

I don't own one, but I try to get into that "position" as best I can. To say the least, it works.

Wouldn't a regular footstool or really anything that you could use to prop your feet on work the same?

I think it's best to get your feet somewhat on either side of you, like a regular squat.

But a small footstool would definitely be better than nothing.

I had a friend about 25 years ago that invested in something called a Padoo. It looked a lot like this. He explained the benefits at the time but I thought he was crazy for investing in it. At the time he was marketing it to people with IBS, Crohns etc. The inventor had one of these diseases and was told by a doctor that squating would help so she designed a stool to fit around the front of her toilet. My friend provided the investment for the moulds and working capital to market it.

Now I am older and wiser ;-0 and have changed my mind on the benefits.
Too bad it didn't catch on - I think he lost his money and I cannot find any reference to Padoo any more although I may be off on the spelling or even the name. He was an Mohawk and I guess it made sense to him at he time.
Now I just use a plastic foot stool unless I am in the woods.
