  • I've missed some good reading while I was out bush.
Gwamma, great work on the weight loss and your determination to continue.
    Misabi in Oz, lucky you.
    Canola oil yuk, Yuk, YUK.
    Venison, Yum.
Another good reason to eat carrots.
But Sago???? Really Jac, how can you call that a lovely texture? it's gross.

Rice pudding cake, can I have the recipe please Seas? I think my dd would like it for breakfast. She stirs up some kind of concoction and seems to enjoy eating it but I"m sure it could be improved.

    • BBC - Food - Recipes : Orange rice cake i never used the orange liquer and i make my rice pudding with honey always so i didn't use any sugar. awesome going out bush. lucky you. I've been stuck in paradise here so i cant complain. misty misty morning here. my new blender arrived too. woohoo!!! i fried the other one the other day which was very irritating. this is how good the dogs nose is too. he goes out for a pee. straight out under the leanto onto the lawn. his nose starts twitching and he turns around, back under the leanto and finds the box the courier left. he can smell the birds on the flax flowers and that fly low overhead too.

      • That sounds great, they have been missing baking. I hope I can cook the rice in milk without ruining it. Usually I would slowly bake it in the oven, I suppose I still could?

        • yeah I do that as I find if I slow cook it on the stove top the pot burns if I don't constantly stir it once the liquid gets absorbed by the rice.

            • LOL I still cant believe he called G a HAG. lucky G! I cant even remember what she did. IME men who put down women like that. Well people who put down others in that manner generally aren't very exemplary themselves. On that subject, I think my neighbour told me her father told her to assess people by how they treated the living things they thought the least important. Which is actually a very good lesson that I poss need to teach my children to bear in mind for their potential partners. Got told a story this morning by someone who has persued me a bit and I've never been interested in which underlined that concept somewhat.

              • I had a quick look at the thread and I can't figure it out at all! Oh well . . . if they pick on you Gwamma, we'll just hide in here and make each other feel better

Re the sago - I've been told I have the palate of a 10 year old boy, so maybe it fits in that category?? I hate the texture of asparagus . I think the carb thing with me at the moment is just straight hunger because of the workouts. I've dramatically changed what my body is being subjected to, so I'm guessing that as long as I keep doing it, eventually it'll all even out and I'll stop having these starvation days!

                • Congratulations Gwamma! So does that make a stone like 13 pounds? I'm always so confused by British talk about weights lol.

I would also rather just eat gelatinous meat, potatoes, and plantains than pay more for gelatin and starch. Kind of like I'd rather eat fruit or meat with natural fat than sugar in my coffee, but I still add a little fat to fish or veg, honey/sugar/chocolate to treats, and occasionally make jello with juice.

Yep, exercising makes me feel starving too. But that's what I like about it! I love to eat.

                      Almost. 14 pounds = 1 stone.

and now I've done it twice I really hope the rings don't reject this time. Well done on the loss - that's HUGE. I bet you're smokin hot.

And, Annie, that was a superb response about cats. Superb.

I got my nips pierced again. There's a photo (of course there is) buried in my journal a few pages back.

                            • LOL I have had mine done for ages. the clamp hurts more than the piercing I reckon. I had them both done at the same visit and managed to ride the motorcycle home. so far nothing has ever rejected and I never wear rings. just bars. the rings look better but I have this fear of someone catching a finger in one and ripping it out. In fact I know someone who would prob do it deliberately even!

Woah! You are a lucky lady. The clamp is fine - the pierce? Holy hells, the PAIN. But it's over very quickly and I love me some adrenalin. I had the first set done 14 or so years ago, but one side rejected within a year or so. Post-breastfeeding they're permanently 'out' so much less chance of rejecting, I hope. I never considered bars - I like the rings, but would never put them in harm's way...ow, that would. Oh, I'm getting sweat prickles even thinking about it.
