  • citrus doesnt grow outdoors where we are. when i lived up north, i had a seedless orange tree outside my house which used to flower in the winter. it smelled divine. no feijoas here either. i have apples, which are still small but i get a few apples each year and i have a huge plum tree which flowers early spring. it looks beautiful as nothing else is flowering and then never gets any fruit. i think it is poss the root stock which took over maybe or a wilding.

    • The only citrus currently planted at the new place is a tree with very small and sweet Mandarins. I had massive grapefruit and lemon trees at the old house.

I do have a couple of different oranges in planters and a kafir lime to go in the ground yet.

        • Loved the wall climbing pics Seas. You are looking great!!!!
Gwamma has just got back from the skin specialist, and he thinks I have a wee squamous cell cancer thingy on my leg, so off to the pathology lab!!!!!!!
And on a brighter note, I asked DD to put Oak down this morning
, he has been progressively getting sicker, and nothing is helping. He wouldn't,t drink, couldn't,t stand, his tummy was swollen as.............anyway Gwamma has been giving him a teaspoon of milk whenever I could this morning, and he is brighter this afternoon. He is standing on all fours, his tummy has gone down, he just drank 100 mls of milk, I am so hoping that he is over whatever made him sick enough to be euthanised. I hate seeing animals suffer.

Good luck with the lab results and poor Oak, Gwamma.

              • yes fingers crossed for oak and you G. blazing heat here today. we've just been to the pub for tea. ouzo and cranberry juice. grapes and an orange LOL still feeling quite rinsed from carrying all the huge weights around today. but so much fun. there is a clip and climb in Chch G and apparently they are having one at the new southland stadium when they finally open it again. well worth a visit. the worst bit was the caving ladder. that did my head in. it was maybe a ft wide x 9m high and it swung as you climbed. i imagined my personal trainer at the bottom so i had to climb up. it wasnt physically hard, just brain damage. my fave was the dark tower.
