  • hmmmmm not sure, not sure and not too sure - however I will do some more research on this today, after a long walk !!!!!!!!
and yep stress has been a huge factor in my life of late....anyhow onwards and upwards.
I hear you about the horse. DH does all our euthanasing around here and he finds it really hard. Years ago the wee pet rat - was so not well - and DH did the deed. Really hard - even with a wee cute pet rat !!!!!!!!!

    • Morning ladies.
Did anyone see 'Is modern medicine killing you?' on TVOne Wednesday night? It was recommended to me by a friend yesturday so I looked it up ondemand and WOW! I think the Dr is Paleo (or at least Paleo sympathiser), she see's a couple of 'patients' each show for whom modern medicine has failed, and then she advises them on alternatives - primarily diet, involving removal of sugar and grains! Some good results with the two she dealt with this week, interested in seeing what comes up in following weeks.

Just back from the Podiatrist, I got brave and wore my Merrell/Vibrams and she gave them a withering look and commented on them not being a podiatrists dream. But that was all, and she didn't advise me to stop wearing them, although she did put an arch support in my right one - not sure how I feel about that, kind of defeats the purpose of having a minimalist shoe? Anyway, I've got some dodgy degenerative stuff going on in my right big toe, possibly a stress fracture. So off for x-ray next week if its not better, specialist appointment made for 6 weeks time. Its making my anti-inflammatory diet seem much more important now.

i always say bone broth and gelatin and vitamin C. bone broth is so good as it has so many minerals in and i absolutely maintain, and i dont need studies to prove this, that animal fat helps with mineral absorption too.

didnt see the TV program. i dont have a Tv and at that time i was probably driving around some road in the middle of nowhere but i did hear it was going to be worth watching.

        • fantastic watch! DH actually saw the shorts and taped it - so we watched it together. It took all of my best efforts to not say....see.....I told you so......etc... but I held my tongue and said nuffink !!!!!!!
That is gonna set this country on fire !!!!!! especially if people start to question, and experiment with their food. heres hoping anyway.
Good Luck with the big toe Lizzielou. We only have two, and if one aint working - not easy to spread the load as it were. Great that you are getting it sorted.... I had a bursitus in my hip for ages, and same.....cant go getting a new hip at the drop of a hat - however seems to have resolverd itself since going primal !

Good stuff! I said to my DH that my friend Michelle had recommended we watch that TV programme, he just rolled his eyes and started to grumble about how that particular friend is sooooo anti Dr's and how we'd all be dead if it wasn't for modern medicine..................blah, blah, blah. He watched some with me then excused himself to go play in the garage, don't think we won that convert. I found the programme particularly interesting as I also have a TMJ (jaw) disorder like the guy with the headaches - I don't get headaches thankfully just related neck and shoulder pain. It really makes me wonder how bad off I might be if I didn't look after my diet/health so well? I still suffer from chronic pain doing primal and keeping fit and doing osteopathic treatments/stretches, take all that away and it would be an interesting experiment to see how long it would take before things got really bad.

Bah...having a poor me, my body is falling apart day! Off to Wellington for WOW tomorrow morning so there's something to look forward too.

            • Alrighty - calling an end to my pity party! I just hopped on the scales and blow me down if I havn't gone and lost another kg this week! That's 3kg in the last month or so (I don't normally weigh myself so not sure). Havn't a clue why all of a sudden I'm loosing weight, but I'm happy to keep this trend going. 2 kg until my goal now

going to go learn how to seam bone out the deer later. which is very exciting. i will ask if anyone saw the TV programme last night.

                      • WOW is the wearable arts. 4got to say. i am down a few kgs of the winter binge weight too. prob only 2kgs to go. it is so difficult to go on weight as i train enough to be getting alot better muscle definition in my arms and back. it is interesting too as there is the whole low carb stuffs your thyroid theory. and then, dont know if you have ever read about how you have disproportionate skin folds in certain places to do with things like thyroid and cortisol? well the subscapula is the thyroid one. mine has tightened lots of recent. i prob should have skin folded it to be scientificish but i cant find my fat calipers.

Just cleaned out the fridge this morning and opening the lid of a margarine container that was in said fridge....I just don't know why I did it.... but....... it was full of mould. Someone has obviously been eating it. and the mould was possibly the best part of the whole thing !!!! LOL

look on the brightside, it was able to grow mould. altho that was prob coz it was low fat marg so it had water in. euuwwwwww!!! i need to clean my fridge out as i am about to get loads and loads of venison. well not that much. i was quite suprised at how small the deer was. originally when i went to get it, i thought i'd shot a part grown one. it wasnt much bigger than my dog, who is mid thigh on me. but it was wider and longer. it was apparently fully grown. i've found a recipe for deer tongue too so i am gonna have fun experimenting while the kids are away this weekend with their dad.

                            • Hullo fellow Kiwis!

Just thought I'd introduce myself; been a primal/paleo/locavore eater since 2010, eliminated my chronic rhinitis symptoms and my gut dysbiosis is slowly getting better. Though my dog is on a species-appropriate diet as well, my wife still thinks I'm insane. Oh well, she might get there!

Just a couple of things I've noticed – there doesn't seem to be many public events or involvement in the Paleosphere in New Zealand. There are no Kiwi Doctors listed in the Paleo Physicians network, there's no MovNat group... Does anyone else feel the same? Or am I just not looking in the right places?
