I started wearing mine years before I found "TPB"
I wear them because I have a nerve disease and regular shoes cause foot pain, when started wearing VFFs I healed some serious atrophy that had occurred over the years because of disuse from constant pain. And that was with buying "custom fit" support shoes to the tune of about $300 a pop on the advice of doctors, foot specialists, and trainers.
I don't feel obliged to wear shoes that conform to the rest of the worlds view of what a shoe "should" look like.
Paleo has exactly ZERO to do with it.
My husband also wears them... though he took longer to warm up to the idea, and he still has to wear convention shoes to work.
He has had 3 knee surgeries... and has significantly less knee pain when he wears his VFFs vs his conventional shoes.
But hey, different strokes and all.
I do what works for me, silly smug assumptions of others aside...
