  • Arch Enemy! I cannot get enough of this song.

Arch Enemy - We Will Rise + Fields Of Desolation / Outro (Tyrants Of The Rising Sun Live In Japan) - YouTube

And to tie this into paleo/primal; the singer, Angela Gossow, is (*GASP!*) vegan. But, completely badass, full of energy (obviously), and with some decent muscle tone to boot.

All I can say is... I have NEVER heard a woman sing like that before. Wow! (I just... couldn't do it lol... My throat would seize up and collapse if I tried!).

"We Will Rise" is an awesome song. "Bury Me an Angel" is pretty badass too.

I've tried singing like that and a two second attempt results in half an hour of coughing. I don't know how anyone does it without needing surgery later to scrape off all the nodules.

Skorpion317- "Under Black Flags We March" is another one of my favorites.

Iron Fireling and jojohaligo- there is a surprising amount of technique involved. Here's Angela doing a workshop on screaming- Angela Gossow Growl Workshop - YouTube

I will have to check it out! My friend's nephew is a singer in a death metal band, and apparently he had to practice for ages (he also manages to do it while swinging his head around in circles...boggles the mind how he manages to do it all at once). I'm always surprised he doesn't have a perpetually croaky voice as a result!
