  • Alternative to Vibrams?

    Hey guys,

So I've been wanting the FiveFingers for a long time, but when I finally tried them on, I found them disappointing. My toes felt constricted and the toe thingies were too long for me! The shoes were a lot stiffer than I expected.

I was wondering if you guys have any other preferences to minimalist shoes that you like for working out? I would really like something that feels more like a glove than a shoe. Don't say socks.

    Thanks!

I find them disappointing too. The only thing I really really like are sandals. And not really the huaraches because I don't like fussing with the lacing and the toe thing. I like sandals that you can put on and the straps keep them on (no flip-flops) without you having to worry about them. Free toes, lots of air on the feet. That's the best feeling. Way better than Vibrams.

I really like my Teva Zilch sandals. I haver several styles of the Merrell barefoot shoes. Altra Eves are nice too. When I need a little bulkier shoe I wear Nike Frees. I have small feet and when I do TRX, if I wear my Merrell's I have problems with my feet going through the straps, so I wear my Nikes.

Thanks guys! I'll take a look at all these.

I'm considering buying a size smaller vibrams too, so the toes fit, but having them pretty snug so they stretch out. We'll see.

It seems that the different models of Vibrams have different toe lengths. I have some KSOs and the toes are much longer than the suede ones I have tried on. I really wanted a pair of the suede ones but the short toes simply wouldn't make a shoe I could wear.

I rock Fila Skeletoes and although the sole is a little stiffer than I'd like, they fit my (sasquatch) feet whereas I haven't had the same luck with Vibrams, and they were also friendlier on my limited budget.

                  Good luck!

My husband loves Merrel barefoot shoes as well. He has some strange toes that didn't work with Vibrams.

You first....a crushed rock surface is rather painful for running barefoot, since that is what is on the trails I go to, I wear minimal shoes.

Ok! I'll check Merrell out. Anyone have opinion on Vivobarefeet? I liked the vivo aqueous:

I love high tops, so I thought these looked sick.
