  • Top Five Movies?

I feel sure this has been done before, but let's hear 'em.

Mine are, in no particular order, The Big Lebowski, The Princess Bride, Harold and Maude, The Thing, and Alien.

    So- bring on the movies!

    Short Circuit
    TMNT series
    Ghostbusters series
    Neverending Story
    Labyrinth

I like a lot of movies, but these are some I'd watch on a regular basis.

I love the Swedish versions of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. My favorite is The Girl who Played with Fire.
I love Pride and Prejudice the 2005 version with Keira Knightly. Though I think Keira Knightly and Adela should share lunch. I love the movie Battle Los Angeles although I think it is mostly a marine recruiting film. My all time favorite movie is The Big Country with Gregory Peck and Jean Simmons. Awesome movie!
I am looking forward to next weeks release of Total Recall. I say the first one in the theater and I play on seeing the new one in a theater.

My favorites all are pretty old too. Also in no particular order:

The Wild Bunch - Pecikinpah was a genius.
The Thing - Carpenter's, best ending ever.
Casino - Slightly more than Goodfellows.
Blade Runner - Prometheus made me cry for Ridley.
Chinatown - Noir, Polanski and I love LA.

          Tercio

Edited to add Sharon Stone kicking Arnolds ass is going to be tough to top but I'm also looking forward to the remake.

What a fun question. Thanks for posing it.

Here goes, in no particular order:

                    1. Casablanca
                    2. My Cousin Vinny
                    3. To Kill a Mockingbird

                    5. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Just so I won't edit this tomorrow and have 5 entirely different movies, honorable mention goes to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Witness for the Prosecution, Major League, The Caine Mutiny, and Cool Hand Luke.

Spies Like Us- funny movie I always liked with maybe my favorite actor, Chevy Chase
                        The Punisher- ultimate action/revenge movie
The Man With Two Brains- my other favorite actor (Steve Martin)
Young Frankenstein- "Walk this way"...."Werewolf?" "There, wolf..."
                        The Great Escape- teamwork, loyalty
Cool Hand Luke- he's an original, that Luke
                        The Godfather- integrity, loyalty
Remember the Titans- teamwork, competitiveness, nostalgia to my football days
                        Braveheart- courage, love
Maverick- sly adventurism set in the old West, maybe the greatest plot twist in my opinion
Dumb and Dumber- playing out me and my friends on road trips

If we're talking TV shows, The Three Stooges and Looney Tunes.

Those 2 movies would have gotten honorable mention in my post if I'd thought of them.

TV shows open up a whole new vista, which I'm not even going to try to explore here. The Jeffersons and All in the Family have to right up there somewhere though.

Oh, don't even judge me badly on this one. It was the movie highlight of my childhood.

                              - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
                              - Brave ( I cried so hard during this, you don't even know)
                              - Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
