I have experienced relief from my autoimmune diseases as well - Crohn's disease and ankylosing spondylitis (main ones). I have to travel to Seattle to see specialists as my diseases are too severe for the drs up here.

The one that pushed me to do this was my GI. He's been gently pushing me for about a year now to follow the auto-immune protocol that the Paleo Mom has outlined. One of the items he was adamant about was egg whites. The lysozyme is bad for leaky gut, which is the source of our inflammation. :-/ Scrambled egg yolks aren't that spectacular but I feel pretty darn good so that's enough!

I really think I need the primal diet more though - dairy doesn't seem to affect me and I need the white rice and potatoes. Keeping weight on is a huge problem for me, I'm supposed to be on TPN every night (IV calories & nutrition) but with a primal diet that includes potatoes and rice I've been able to maintain with food alone (and one coconut cream shake a day)!

As a heads up, I'm friends with the OP in real life. He's not on the forums much, but I'll tell him he should update this thread; he still hasn't taken a shot of Enbrel since going paleo. He also has no problem telling strangers about it if it comes up in conversation.

That's funny you mention it - I was looking at the boxes of Enbrel I'm collecting in my fridge just this morning. My joints are a *little* achey but nothing like I would be going this far between shots (they had me on a double dose schedule, too). I need to talk to my rheumy about just stopping.

Yes, please tell the OP. It is great to hear he's still doing well! For me I am so afraid this will be temporary, this gives me hope to hear of someone getting off Enbrel long term. Perhaps some semblance of a normal life is possible long term?

That's great to hear and very inspirational that going and staying primal can heal as well as break the dependency of prescription drugs!
