Primalchild: like stop_hammertime said, i added the warning for those that wouldn't appreciate being duped into seeing "icky woman stuff" on an otherwise harmless-looking thread (you'd be surprised how many people would be offended), not to insult the collective maturity level of the community

I haven't really paid too much attention to my cycles since my hubby got "fixed" four years ago and we stopped worrying about extra babies. But i *think* this one is starting about a week early--at least i didn't get an extra one in the middle like some, and i'm hoping it won't last extra-long.

I had my usual small warning cramps while at the in-laws', so i was really glad when it ended up being light that first evening. Then there was yesterday's carnage, but i only had light cramping, even during that (part of why it was so surprising), when usually day 1 (and sometimes day 2) can become rather torturous.

I'm only 26, so while menopause wouldn't be *completely* unwelcome, i think it's way early for that (my mom is 46 and showing no signs of being close to that herself).

Today marks exactly 2 weeks of being primal for me, btw

I think that sort of experience happens to most women. Myself included. Been there, done that. It could just be hormonal flux, as some have mentioned. Keep track of it, and if you are worried, or begin noticing other symptoms, check with your doctor.

Hippie Mama, since you've only been primal for 2 weeks, I'd put it down to coincidence. I personally keep track of my cycles just because it can clue you into all kinds of things. Like going Primal coincided with the down-side of your cycle - and remember the really bad carb cravings you had? You can learn tons about your own personal physiology by keeping track of that stuff.

Is it perhaps related to a new exercise program? Have you been doing lots of core work? Don't forget, the uterus is lined with muscle; that's what causes cramps, after all.

My first two primal periods were longer cycles, and flow was heavy and kinda weird. The third was normal, and the last one was one of my best periods ever (no cramps!!!). So yeah, give it time. I do notice my periods start with less and less warning, but I have always been an immediate gusher, I'm used to the damage control.

Also - since going primal I never spot between periods any more, my acne cleared up, and my boobs are growing (I am trying to gain weight, not lose it). It appears to be extremely benficial for my hormones.

It can be an age thing too, my OBGYN nicely told me that the older we get the more insane the hormones get, the heavier and weirder it gets. For me, it actually reduced in length, instead of being 4-6 days, its now more like three days. One of those is pretty much heavy all day flow.

Oh, but also, I never had a regular cycle, now, since eating this way it's pretty regular.

I wish my period came back Y_Y (I can't believe I'm saying this...), we parted ways a year ago and it hasn't shown its ugly face in *these* parts of town.

Has anyone here gotten their periods on Primal after it's been absent?

Does anyone here has PCOS? How're you dealin'? :]

@NSWM - yes and yes. Primalish since late summer '09, two long cycles (about 6-8 weeks each) since then- previously had two natural periods EVER. And these were light and easy to deal with, as opposed to be bent double in agony.

Overall, feeling much better, have kicked all the various meds and hormones and am slooooooowly trying to fix things.

@hippie mama, how are you feeling today?

The only thing I've noticed since tinkering with PB for the last few months, is that I don't have any PMS and if I don't mark the calendar, I'm totally caught off guard. This last time especially. I thought I was a week early, since no PMS at all, but I checked the calendar and I was right on time. Weird, but good! Oh, and I've had the sploosh thing before. Usually at least once or twice during my 2nd day. It's normal for me. Nothing too weird.

                      Carpe Diem!

I think it's over; just some spotting, which is normal for me on day 3-4ish. I'm relieved it didn't go extra long or anything. *whew!* Of course, if it comes back early, i'll probably be here complaining again!

Not without- I used to have pcos, once I had both kids, my hormones normalized, but at the same time I also started to reduce carbs and do some hard core researching on how to loose this weight.

My first primal period ended last week, so I'll throw my data into the mix. =] I had no PMS symptoms until the day before (breast tenderness - usually happens a week in advance!). My period was a little late (day 30, where my average is 25) but that fluctuates a lot for me anyway.

More relevantly: it was definitely heavier than usual... and I usually have one really heavy day but this time I had 3! I'm not sure I'd notice a "sploosh" since I use a menstrual cup, so I'm no help there.
